This vote was on a motion to send a bill that would overhaul the health care system back to the Finance Committee for a rewrite (known as “motion to recommit”). Mike Johanns, R-Neb., wanted the committee to restore $42.1 billion in cuts the bill would make to payments to home health agencies. The reductions are intended to trim wasteful spending and repurpose it for new health care initiatives, such as creating a public health insurance option. |
